A SPECIAL THANK YOU………. You may recall the Lodge donated 21 holiday food baskets to a local church for Thanksgiving. Well, we had so many food donations from our members that we decided to give what was left over to a local food bank. Low Country Food bank to be exact. Many of the items donated were unrelated to the holiday baskets that we were making for the community. With the help of the Lodge Chaplain, I loaded my truck up with the food and dropped off your donations on Monday morning, 11/21. Yesterday, right before our General Membership meeting, I received this email: “Mr. Ron Comperchio,” Thank you and the members of the Surfside Beach Moose Lodge for the very generous gift. Your continued kindness shows your dedication to the fight against hunger. Thanks for making a difference in so many lives!” Beth Atkinson – Major Gifts Officer – 2864 Azalea Drive Charleston, SC 29405 (843)747-8146 ext. 123 [email protected] . This note was sent because of your generosity. I’m so proud to be the President of Surfside Beach Moose Lodge. God Bless each and every one of you for your support of our Fraternity and our local charities. President Ron

After many, many years of dedication to our Members and Lodge, Joe and MaryAnn Zollinger are retiring from writing & editing our bi-monthly newsletter. The May/June Newsletter will be their last. Thank you, Joe and MaryAnn for you many hours/days/weeks/months and years of hard work for the Surfside Beach Moose Lodge. Now, we need someone to step up and fill their shoes. If you have experience in writing and editing, please contact our Administrator John Hartigan ([email protected]) or myself at the email address below. If no one steps up, we will probably have to go to an electronic newsletter that will be emailed to all members with email addresses. Many Lodges have already made this change. So, it is very important that you have a correct email address on file in the office. More on this to come, if no one volunteers to take over the newsletter. Ron (Rocket) Comperchio ([email protected])
Congratulations to our latest member to join the 25 club! Our Lodge Junior Past President “Clay Marcoux”.
6/04/2022 – Surfside Beach Moose Lodge Membership Committee: Our program for 2022-2023 is “Make it Happen”. Our goals are once again to be plus one at the end of the year in lodge membership and to have enrolled 500 new members.
Both goals are achievable if each of our current “ONE MOOSE” members propose one friend for membership this year. We have had a good start with 29 member’s already submitted applications and having their friends approved for membership in the month of May. The lodge has received a limited number of campaign pins to be given to sponsors. I will post a list of first time sponsors on the membership Bulletin board. I will have the pins available at the lodge meetings for those who attend. Bill Carroll – Membership Chairman
DEAR SURFSIDE BEACH MOOSE MEMBERS: PLEASE BE UNDERSTANDING AND ABOVE ALL, COURTEOUS TO OUR LODGE WAITSTAFF. THE ENTIRE RESTAURANT INDUSTRY IS GOING THROUGH AN EXTREME SHORTAGE OF HELP. REMEMBER TOO THAT OUR WAITSTAFF ARE ALSO MEMBERS AND PART OF THE MOOSE FAMILY. UNTIL WE GET MORE HELP, PLEASE LEND A HAND BY CLEARING YOUR TABLE WHEN YOU LEAVE, SORT OF LIKE WHAT YOU DO AT HOME. BE PATIENT YOUR WAITSTAFF, FOOD WILL GET TO YOU AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. AND IF YOU KNOW OF ANYONE WHO MIGHT WANT TO JOIN OUR MOOSE FAMILY, AS PART OF OUR WAITSTAFF, PLEASE HAVE THEM COME IN AND SPEAK TO OUR ADMINISTRATOR JOHN HARTIGAN. THANK YOU FOR YOUR CO-OPERATION AND UNDERSTANDING DURING THESE STRESSFUL TIMES

THE LODGE VALENTINE’S DAY PARTY WAS A SMASHING SUCCESS. ALL WHO PARTICIPATED ENJOYED AN EVENING OF GREAT FOOD, DANCING AND FUN. SPECIAL THANK YOU TO THE COMMITTEE AND VOLUNTEERS THAT MADE IT ALL POSSIBLE.
A New Year’s note from the Chief Executive Officer Scott Hart 2022:
My dad put me behind the wheel of our Volkswagen Beetle when I was seven years old. Trying to work the clutch and peek between the top of the steering wheel and the dashboard resulted in a close call with the neighbor’s mailbox. At fifteen years old and in the school’s driver education car, our Instructor tapped me on the right arm more than once to tell me to pay attention to what was in the rearview mirror. I learned it was important to have a vison on what lies ahead, as well as what is behind you.
When the calendar turned to January 2021, most of us let out a sigh of relief that 2020 was over and better things were ahead for us and our fraternity. We saw one of the greatest fraternal achievements accomplished on May 1st with equality reigning throughout every Moose Lodge. After a virtual International Convention in 2020, we traveled to Cincinnati over the 4th of July and celebrated together as One Moose. Membership production has taken off like a family sedan on nitrous oxide this year. We are already close to topping more than 100,000 new members signed since May 1st – simply incredible! Not only did we see a National Marketing Campaign with NASCAR Cup Series driver Ross Chastain go well in 2021, but we also saw the launch of Local Marketing Grants become available for every Lodge that was represented at the International Convention. To date, more than $300,000 has been granted to 151 Lodges. From parades, music festivals, county fairs and youth sport teams, our Moose Lodges are making themselves known. This is an ongoing program, so click on the Programs/Events tab just to the left of this message for more information.
We witnessed the start of construction on the Mooseheart Activity Center (MAC) on June 7th. This incredible gift from the Moose Fraternity to our children will be dedicated during Graduation/Pilgrim weekend in June of 2022. Thanks to your amazing generosity the fundraising goal of $8,000,000 is almost complete – great job! On a final note concerning 2021, we sadly had to say a final goodbye to many friends, family members and fellow Moose. It was a difficult year for us all and 2022 won’t be the same without their laughter, advice and presence. May they rest in peace.
Finally, what will 2022 look like for our Moose family? As I focus my eyesight out ahead, I rest in the assurance that we are riding together as a stronger and more united Moose than ever before. Let’s enjoy the journey and share a big thank you for all you do to make tomorrow brighter for someone or some family that is hurting and needs a helping Moose hand to steady the steering wheel of their life. God Bless!
The Surfside Beach Moose Lodge Valued Veteran for 2021 was Johnny Gossett. Thank you for all you do for our Veterans Johnny.

Surfside Beach Moose Lodge welcomed our Moose Chairman of the Board Paul Curtis on Friday August 6th. He stopped by for lunch at the Lodge along with his wife Bonnie.
On a Sunday morning, a transport team from Surfside lodge was organized to transfer 1900 Boxes of cereal, donated by the North Carolina State Convention at the Crown Reef Resort, to the Surfside Beach Moose lodge and then to the Low Country Food bank. It took two trips from the coral reef convention center to bring it to the lodge. It took two pick-up trucks and three SUVs to transfer it all to the food Bank Monday morning. In case you’re interested how much does cereal weigh…………. 1900 boxes weighed ….1559lbs. Ever wonder what all those wooden Moose were on the Lodge walls in the Social Quarters? One of our talented Moose members hand crafts each wooden Moose in his home workshop. We are still accepting orders for member to have their own Moose on the walls of the Social Quarters. If you wish to have a Moose made with your name or to honor someone else, please see the Administrator for details.
Pool is flourishing at the Lodge. Come join in on the fun and competitions Monday & Thursday nights 6 – 10pm.
Great News! The Kids Play Room has been re-opened and is already getting used by our future Moose members.
The Moose will once again partner with NASCAR driver Ross Chastain and the Chip Ganassi Racing (CGR) team to help promote the Fraternity throughout North America. Chastain, who flashed the Moose Fraternity logo during three NASCAR Xfinity Series races and one Cup Series race last year, has moved to the Cup Series full-time in 2021 as he races the CGR No. 42 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE for the entire season. The Moose will be the primary sponsor for four races during the current season, and an Associate Sponsor for a minimum of 18 additional races throughout the year. Further, the Moose will have a personal services agreement with Chastain, a member of Tice and the Shores Florida Moose Lodge 1297, for the entire season.“ Last year, the races we participated in averaged between 1,000,000-3,000,000 viewers each, and along with additional marketing with NASCAR online, we were able to at least triple the traffic on our website and social media sites,” Director General Scott Hart stated. “This was all done within a very short time frame in the midst of an unprecedented pandemic, so as our lodges get back in business, we expect an even bigger impact in 2021.” Members can root for Ross all season long, but especially during those races when the Moose is the primary car sponsor. Those races include the Drydene 400 at the Dover International Speedway on May 16; the FireKeepers Casino 400 at the Michigan International Speedway on August 22; the Federated Auto Parts 400 at the Richmond Raceway on September 11; and the Bass Pro Shops Night Race at the Bristol Motor Speedway on September 18. The last two races are part of the playoffs at the end of the NASCAR season, promising even larger audiences for the Moose.
